Family Practice Group – Litigation Paralegal

The Hemmat Law Group is seeking a new litigation paralegal to join our family law practice group.

Our paperless firm was founded in 1994 by Steven Amir Hemmat, a former DOJ trial attorney. In recent years, our firm has been expanding and taking advantage of the remote work era and cloud functionality – allowing us to bring our services to far more clients than ever before.

Our family law practice has found a niche in the Pacific Northwest’s most complicated and high conflict separations, custody disputes, and high asset matters. We have particular experience with anti-fraud investigations and large business divisions – representing and opposing executives and business leaders during the hardest times of their lives.

Successful candidates will work side by side with our frontline litigation team to achieve the objectives of our clients. Applicants must have a strong bias towards action and proactivity, and must be willing to ask questions at all times.

Responsibilities & Core Job Functions

  • Draft correspondence and motions practice documents from scratch.
  • Coordinate document drafting and juggle signature requests across a dynamic team.
  • Manage discovery and prepare responses to same.
  • Be highly responsive to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare for mediations, assemble trial notebooks, and general exhibit management.
  • Deliver working copies to courts and clerks.
  • Calendar Management and scheduling.
  • Manage high volumes of tasks and projects.
  • Meet billable hours targets and other performance metrics.
  • React with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in Family Law litigation support.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat in a professional environment.
  • Experience managing a high volume of requests and competing deadlines.
  • Strong desire and aptitude for process improvements.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience collaborating with a decentralized organization on Microsoft Teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in administration, paralegal sciences, or another field or;
  • Certificate of Paralegal studies from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Clio Management Suite, DropBox, and MyPleadings.
  • Experience dealing with good people at their worst.

 

We Would be Particularly Happy With:

  • Financial or other bookkeeping experience;
  • Knowledge of business anti-fraud analytics or investigative experience;
  • International management and/or government experience.

Pay & Benefits

Competitive Compensation of $65,000 – $85,000, commensurate with experience and ability.

Our Interview Process: 

Once you submit your application, expect a response in 2-4 business days indicating whether we think an interview would be a good fit. You will then navigate two or three rounds of interviews with the Legal Operations director, a fellow paralegal, and our CEO, respectively. If accepted, a detailed offer will be delivered via email.
