The hiring process is a leap of faith. No matter what this web page says about how great we are, you shouldn’t take our word for it – especially in the legal industry. We hope to earn your trust by educating you about who we are and what we value.
Complete Case Autonomy
Our attorneys are experienced litigators, and we trust you to make the tough decisions required to do your job. You will never need to worry about management directing case strategy or breathing down your neck.
Choose your own clients
All our experienced attorneys take their own consults, and it is left to your discretion who to work with. Management will never force you to tolerate a poor fit, or to retain one that later becomes challenging.
Mentorship and Support
For attorneys who may prefer to lean on their peers, we strongly encourage a collaborative approach to learning. You are never left on your own if you don’t want to be.
Reasonable Billing Hours
We never require more than 1600 billable hours per year (often less). Seeing your family and living your life is a vital part of a healthy practice.
Respectful Clients
HLG invests enormous resources educating potential clients. We have among the most respectful clientele in the high-conflict family law space.
Full Admin Support
Hate talking to clients about bills? Never fear – all the money discussions are off your plate if you want to focus on the law. Never get disrespected by clients, or held accountable for their delinquency, again.
The Pod System
Hemmat Law generally practices in litigation pods of 1:1 – one paralegal for every attorney. Gone are the days of sharing a single overworked assistant with your fellows. You and your paralegal are encouraged to cultivate a collaborative (rather than managerial) dynamic.
If you already have a paralegal you love working with, we are always happy to hire them simultaneously.
World Class Technology
We make it easier to reach your billable goals by leveraging technology. As an example, while working with our firm, any email you read or send associated with an active matter is automatically archived and saved as a time entry automatically when you click on it. Get credit for every communication you send or receive – instantly, and hands-free. Meet your targets just by staying on top of your inbox.
Our Practice Management Software
Our ecosystem is based on the Clio Cloud and the Microsoft ecosystem. Collaborate with clients and colleagues on Teams and via the HLG client portal

- People who struggle to ask for help and support proactively.
- Jerks or people with poor intrapersonal skills.
- Attorneys who can’t get clients to love them.
How our consultation system works at HLG:
- A prospective client reaches out. They are charged a fee to meet with you that is refunded if they hire us. This eliminates tire-kickers while maintaining access. You decide what times of day prospectives can meet with you, and how many.
- The consult team gathers as much data as they can before the consult. By the time a case reaches you, you know all about the jurisdiction, any potential conflicts, the basic facts, and any upcoming hearings (and how many times they’ve been continued). No more scrambling to orient yourself.
- At the end of the consult, you decide whether they are a good fit. If they are, admin takes the entire hiring process off your plate. They coordinate signatures, payments, and file transfers.
- Admin notifies you when the client is all paid up and ready to hit the ground running.
- Repeat steps 1-4. When you have enough work, just let admin know to take you off the consult rotation. When you need more, just ask to be put back on.
